Housecleaning Cost-cutting Tips

There is a wide array of cleaners, cleansers, scrubs and wonder mops out there in the market.  They promise the cleanest of clean but are worth a fortune if summed up.  Don’t fall for the hype.  Follow these simple tips on how to clean your home without going broke.

Do some daily cleaning.

The reason why some cleaning jobs require specialty cleaners is that the stain or dirt has become so encrusted and stubborn that they need tougher chemicals.  However, if you do a little maintenance cleaning every day, you can erase most dirt and grime with just cheap and plain soap.

Choose reusable cloths and mops.

True, disposable cloths and mops are a great convenience but they cost much in the long run.  Save these throw-away items for times when you’re not feeling well but on ordinary days, go for disposable cloths and mops.  They can be re-used for a long time.

Use mild dish soap instead of special cleaners.

Nowadays it seems there is a special cleaner for almost every surface.  The truth is that any mild dish soap can sufficiently clean most surfaces gently.  Most washable surfaces in the house can be degreased and cleaned simply by dish soap and a microfiber cloth.

Look for cheaper brands.

It is easy to become a loyal patron of expensive brands—just ignore the other brands.  Yet you can save a lot of money by trying out the cheaper brands.   Buy the smallest bottle of a store brand cleaner and try it.  If it works as well as your more expensive brand, you have found a bargain.  If it fails your standard, it’s just a small bottle anyway.

Use coupons.

Spotting and cutting coupons will save you a lot of money and does not take much of your time.  Look for online coupons in this site, they are ready to print and give you big discounts on your favorite household products.

Take care of your cleaning items.

A mop left damp for long soon becomes moldy.  Improperly stored cleaners may get spilled.  The point is, if you do not take care of your cleaning implements, you would have to spend for frequent replacements and/or refills.  Store your cleaners away from children, pets, extreme heat and light.  Wash and let dry the mop after using.
