Slow Cooker Butter and Jam Recipes: Apple Butter and Peach Butter

Apple Butter

Make the most out of you slow cooker and use it to have 8 pints of this delicious apple butter which you can prepare in just 15 minutes.   Made aromatic with cinnamon, cloves and allspice, this is the butter to last you for many, many breakfasts.

Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 8 to 10 hours
Yield: 8 pints

Ingredients:

• 4 quarts unsweetened apple sauce
• 7 cups granulated sugar
• 1 1/3 cup brown sugar
• 6 tablespoons cider vinegar
• 5 tablespoons lemon juice
• 2 teaspoons cinnamon
• 2 teaspoons allspice
• 1 teaspoon ground cloves

Directions:

• In a 5 to 6  quart slow cooker, combine all ingredients.
• Cover and cook on low for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
• Uncover and continue cooking until the excesss liquid evaporates, about 5 to 8 hours.
• Seal mixture in hot sterilized jars and process in a boiling water for about 10 minutes.

Peach Butter

Let the mouth-watering aroma of peaches whiff around your home with this slow-cooking peach butter recipe.  Just give 15 minutes of prepping and let your slow cooker do the remaining 8 hours of cooking to give you 6 cups of this heavenly peach butter.

Cook time: 8 to 10 hours
Yield: 6 cups

Ingredients:

• 6 cups unsweetened peaches
• 3 cups white sugar
• 1 ½ cups apricot nectar
• 2 tablespoons orange or lemon juice
• 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

• Process peaches in a blender or food processor.
• Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker.
• Cover and cook on low for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
• Uncover and continue cooking for about 5 to 8 hours, until the excess liquid evaporates away.
• Seal and refrigerate.  Freeze for longer storage.
